Key Responsibilities
Operate redrying machines following process instructions to achieve quality and performance targets. Ensure full compliance with BAT’s policies and procedures related to product standards. Conduct thorough overhauls of assigned production lines promptly before processing seasons begin. Supervise lamina packing operations in the absence of the designated operator. Lead and drive Integrated Work System (IWS) initiatives and other responsibilities within the assigned Pillar. Monitor and enforce adherence to Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies on the shop floor to maintain a safe working environment. Exercise strict control over the dispatch of all plant outputs in accordance with ASI guidelines. Ensure dryer operations meet PI&T standards and Leaf Supplier Manual quality parameters. Assist in maintaining building standards during line overhauls. Engage and motivate shift teams to meet departmental goals. Pursue continuous learning and development for both self and team members. Coach equipment owners to enhance their technical capabilities. Collaborate regularly with Quality Assurance to uphold high product quality. Foster strong working relationships with the Product Management Department (PMD) to better understand customer requirements. Establish effective communication and cooperation with unionized employees. Implement process innovations to improve productivity and cost efficiency. Encourage shop floor employees to contribute ideas for ongoing improvements.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering is essential. Candidates should have a minimum of two years’ experience in a processing plant or industrial maintenance environment. Strong mechanical and process knowledge with both practical and theoretical expertise is required. Proficiency in PLC programming, instrumentation, and control systems is necessary. Familiarity with storeroom operating strategies is preferred. Demonstrated technical mastery of equipment and the ability to develop others’ skills are important. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Proven ability to coach, train, and influence cross-functional teams effectively. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, especially within a unionized environment, are essential. Basic problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement are expected. Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office tools, is required. High personal accountability and a results-driven mindset are critical. The ability to adapt in challenging operational contexts with limited skilled resources is necessary.
