Polymer Engineer – Two Component PU Foam

We are seeking an innovative and skilled Polymer Engineer with a strong background in two-component polyurethane (PU) foam systems to join our team in developing advanced materials for sports products. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing, optimizing, and researching PU foam-based materials tailored for applications such as sports balls, protective gear, footwear, and other performance-driven sports products.

Key Responsibilities

Material Development:

Design and formulate two-component PU foam systems for sports applications, ensuring the products meet specific performance, durability, and aesthetic requirements.
Develop lightweight, impact-resistant, and high-rebound materials for sports balls, protective gear, and shoes.

Innovation and Research:

Conduct research on advanced polymers, additives, and sustainable materials to enhance product performance and lifecycle.
Explore innovative technologies, such as bio-based PU and hybrid material systems, to improve environmental sustainability.

Testing and Validation:

Perform rigorous testing (mechanical, thermal, and chemical) to validate material properties such as impact resistance, elasticity, durability, and wear resistance.
Use data analysis to refine formulations and achieve optimal performance.

Process Optimization:

Collaborate with manufacturing teams to scale up laboratory formulations for production.
Optimize processing parameters, including mixing, molding, curing, and finishing, to ensure product quality and consistency.

Collaboration:

Work closely with product designers, production engineers, and quality teams to translate material innovations into market-ready sports products.
Support cross-functional efforts to develop prototypes and troubleshoot technical issues during product development and manufacturing.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all materials and processes comply with safety, environmental, and industry standards relevant to sports products.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain detailed records of formulations, tests, and process parameters.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A PhD is a plus.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience in developing and producing PU foam systems, particularly for applications in sports or related industries.
Knowledge of performance requirements for sports balls, footwear, and protective equipment.

Technical Skills:

Expertise in polymer testing methods (e.g., FTIR, DSC, TGA, rheology).
Familiarity with PU foam processing equipment and molding technologies.
Understanding of lightweight and high-impact materials for performance applications.

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
A creative mindset with a passion for innovation in sports materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in developing eco-friendly and sustainable material solutions for sports products.
Familiarity with sports industry standards, including compliance requirements for safety and performance.
Hands-on experience with product development life cycles, from concept to production.
