1. Introduction

The Media Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for managing the Media Fellows Program, which focuses on training media personnel across all provinces and territories in Pakistan on gender and child rights issues. This role includes managing the entire process, from advertising the Media Fellows initiative to engaging media personnel, organizing the selection process, coordinating training events, and ensuring smooth communication with all involved parties. The role involves close collaboration with the Ministry of Human Rights, NCSW, and UNICEF.

2. Objectives of the Role

The primary objectives for this role are:

  • Support and manage the Media Fellows Program, ensuring successful recruitment, training, and engagement of media personnel.
  • Coordinate logistics and administration of media-related events and training sessions focused on gender equality and child rights.
  • Engage effectively with media fellows, providing them with necessary support and resources before, during, and after training.
  • Promote awareness on gender and child rights through media personnel across various provinces and territories of Pakistan.

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Advertising and Recruitment

  1. Advertise the Media Fellows Initiative through appropriate channels (e.g., social media, press releases, relevant media networks, and partner organizations).
  2. Coordinate the selection process for media fellows, ensuring a diverse and representative group of media personnel from all provinces and territories.
  3. Screen applications and assist in shortlisting the right candidates based on defined criteria (e.g., experience in media, commitment to gender and child rights, reach, and influence).
  4. Liaise with media organizations, networks, and key stakeholders to promote the program and encourage qualified candidates to apply.

B. Training Program Planning & Design

  1. Collaborate with NCSW, UNICEF, and relevant partners to define the training content and objectives related to gender equality and child rights.
  2. Develop detailed training schedules and agendas in collaboration with trainers and experts.
  3. Organize training materials, including handouts, presentations, and resource documents, ensuring that they are tailored to the media fellows’ needs.
  4. Help to design and prepare promotional materials for the media fellows’ training programs.

C. Event Coordination and Implementation

  1. Coordinate logistics for the media fellows’ training events, including venue selection, travel, accommodation, catering, and other necessary arrangements.
  2. Manage invitations to media fellows and stakeholders, ensuring timely confirmation of participation and handling any special requirements.
  3. Facilitate the registration process for training participants, ensuring smooth sign-in on event days.
  4. Ensure effective communication with media fellows before, during, and after training sessions, including sharing relevant information, reminders, and updates.
  5. Provide on-the-ground support to trainers and speakers during the training, ensuring the events run smoothly and efficiently.

D. Media Fellows Engagement and Support

  1. Establish a continuous engagement process with media fellows, including regular communication, follow-up after training, and gathering feedback on their experiences.
  2. Monitor the implementation of what has been learned by media fellows in their respective regions or media platforms.
  3. Provide ongoing support to media fellows, including answering queries, providing resources, and offering guidance related to gender and child rights content.
  4. Assist media fellows in developing content (articles, reports, social media campaigns, etc.) that aligns with the training received, and ensure that their work meets gender-sensitive and child-rights-based standards.

E. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  1. Monitor the success of the Media Fellows Program by tracking participation, engagement, and the impact of media outputs on gender and child rights awareness.
  2. Collect feedback from media fellows and other stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of the training programs and suggest improvements.
  3. Prepare regular progress reports for UNICEF, NCSW, and other key stakeholders, including data on participant engagement, event outcomes, and feedback analysis.
  4. Contribute to the evaluation process of the Media Fellows Program, ensuring that lessons learned are documented and shared for future iterations of the initiative.

F. General Coordination and Administrative Tasks

  1. Manage all administrative tasks related to the program, including documentation, record-keeping, and filing.
  2. Maintain up-to-date records of all media fellows including their contact details, attendance, and participation.
  3. Support the preparation of any funding reports, proposals, or presentations as needed for UNICEF, NCSW, or any other stakeholders involved in the program.

4. Qualifications & Skills

A bachelor’s degree in media with a minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination or management, especially in media-related fields. Experience in organizing training programs or events. A strong understanding of the media landscapes preferably gender equality and children rights in Pakistan and experience working with media professionals.

Fluency in English, Urdu and other local languages will be a plus.
