1. Prenatal Care: Midwives provide comprehensive prenatal care to pregnant women. This includes conducting regular check-ups, monitoring the mother's health and the baby's development, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and providing counseling and education on pregnancy-related topics such as nutrition, exercise, and childbirth preparation.

2. Labor and Delivery Assistance: Midwives assist women during labor and childbirth. They monitor the progress of labor, provide emotional support and comfort measures, administer pain relief options (both pharmacological and non-pharmacological), assist with breathing techniques and position changes, and ensure the safety and well-being of the mother and the baby throughout the process.

3. Postpartum Care: Midwives continue to provide care to women and their babies after childbirth. They conduct postpartum check-ups for the mother, assessing her physical recovery, emotional well-being, and providing guidance on breastfeeding, newborn care, contraception, and postpartum self-care. Midwives also monitor the newborn's growth and development during the postpartum period.

4. Health Promotion and Education: Midwives play a vital role in promoting healthy behaviors and practices during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. They provide education on topics such as nutrition, prenatal and postnatal exercises, breastfeeding techniques, infant care, and family planning. They also offer guidance on managing common discomforts during pregnancy and provide information on available support services and resources.

5. Collaborative Care: Midwives work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care for women and their babies. They communicate and consult with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and other specialists as needed, and make appropriate referrals in cases of high-risk pregnancies or complications that require medical intervention.

6. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Midwives maintain accurate and detailed records of all prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum care provided to women and their babies. This includes documenting assessments, test results, care plans, and any significant observations or interventions.

7. Advocacy and Support: Midwives advocate for women's rights and choices in childbirth, supporting their autonomy and informed decision-making. They provide emotional support, reassurance, and counseling to women and their families throughout the childbirth experience, fostering a trusting and supportive relationship.
