We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant to oversee and manage companies accounts, ensuring high-quality output and effective collaboration across departments. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to process improvement and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the bookkeeping team to deliver accurate and timely results.
  • Ensure the delivery of quality financial information to senior managers and other departments, including accounts, payroll, and tax.
  • Foster strong relationships across the practice to ensure seamless collaboration between teams.
  • Work alongside the Director to identify and implement process improvements, focusing on efficiency and quality.
  • Review VAT returns, bookkeeping files, and supporting schedules for accuracy and compliance.
  • Resolve internal and external queries arising from bookkeeping reviews.
  • Review and oversee the production of detailed management accounts.
  • Provide training, guidance, and professional development opportunities for the team.
  • Ensure adherence to timetables for timely delivery of bookkeeping and management accounts.
  • Prepare accounts in compliance with FRS 102 1A and FRS 105 standards.
  • Produce draft tax computations and provisions for inclusion in accounts.
  • Fulfill additional duties as needed to meet business requirements.

VAT Knowledge:

Comprehensive understanding of VAT, including:

  • Cash Accounting
  • Invoice Accounting
  • Partial Exemption
  • Flat Rate Scheme
  • Margin Scheme
  • Export/Import VAT and Duty
  • Property VAT Rules

Technical Requirements:

Accounting Software:

  • Proficient in Xero (essential).
  • Proficient in Sage Line 50 (essential).
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (essential).
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks (preferred but not essential).
  • Knowledge of other accounting software (desirable).
