Accountant

Gem Garments is seeking a meticulous and proactive Accountant with over three years of experience to handle daily financial operations and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong expertise in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel, alongside experience in bank reconciliations, ledger management, payroll processing, sales tax returns, and financial reporting. This role involves critical financial analysis and reporting to support operational efficiencies while maintaining accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

Utilize advanced features of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets to create and manage dynamic financial spreadsheets, including functions such as pivot tables, SUMIFS, and data automation for precise financial tracking.
Conduct regular reconciliation of bank statements with internal financial records, ensuring accuracy and promptly addressing any discrepancies that arise.
Maintain and update the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers with correct classifications, ensuring timely and accurate posting of financial entries.
Track, accurately record, and categorize daily business expenses while ensuring all supporting documentation is provided for proper auditing and reporting.
Process and manage payroll on a monthly basis, ensuring the accurate calculation of benefits and deductions while adhering to relevant labor laws and regulations.
Oversee the management of accounts receivable, keeping detailed up-to-date records of debtors, monitoring overdue accounts, and executing timely collections to minimize outstanding balances.
Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and maintaining appropriate documentation for auditing purposes.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, contributing to the budgeting and forecasting processes to support the companys financial decision-making.
