Project Engineer - Gravity Based Water Supply Schemes

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the design, planning, and implementation of gravity-based water supply schemes in 15 rural villages of District Muzaffarabad. This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of construction, ensuring quality control, and ensuring that all water supply systems are climate-resilient and meet the project's technical and environmental standards. The engineer will collaborate closely with local communities, contractors, and the project team to ensure the successful delivery of sustainable water systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Planning:
- Conduct site assessments in targeted villages to identify suitable locations for gravity-based water supply schemes.
- Design water supply systems that utilize natural gravitational flow, ensuring alignment with technical specifications and local needs.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, technical specifications, and bills of quantities (BOQs) for each site.
- Ensure that the design meets climate-resilient standards to withstand extreme weather events, including floods and landslides.
Implementation and Supervision:
- Oversee the construction and installation of water tanks, pipelines, and tap stands in selected villages.
- Supervise contractors to ensure all construction is performed according to design, schedule, and quality standards.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental protection standards.
- Ensure that water supply systems are accessible to all community members, including vulnerable groups like women and persons with disabilities.
Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with local communities to gain understanding and support for the installation of water supply schemes.
- Provide technical training to community members on the operation and maintenance of water supply systems.
- Engage with village development committees to ensure their participation in monitoring and maintaining system sustainability.
Quality Control and Monitoring:
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and resolve any technical challenges.
- Verify that materials used meet required specifications and standards.
- Perform technical audits and quality assurance checks throughout project phases.
- Document progress and prepare regular reports for the Project Manager.
Coordination and Reporting:
- Coordinate with the project management team, local authorities, and contractors for smooth project implementation.
- Prepare and submit detailed progress reports, including technical assessments, timelines, and resource utilization, to the Project Manager.
- Ensure project completion within budget and efficient use of resources.
