The Network Engineer monitors, maintains, and supports the network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance. This role is critical in rapidly identifying, escalating, and resolving network issues and supports various network components, including routers, switches, OLTs, ONTs, and transmission equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, outages, and degradations in real-time
Escalate unresolved or critical issues to Tier-2/Tier-3 teams as per the escalation matrix
Perform remote diagnostics and initial triage for customer-reported issues
Coordinate with ODN teams for on-site issue resolution and service restoration
Maintain incident logs, trouble tickets, and detailed shift reports
Monitor and analyze system performance trends, generating performance reports as needed
Ensure all network devices are updated with firmware, patches, and backups
Proactively monitor all network systems and services using NMS tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds)
Assist in change management activities such as maintenance windows and software upgrades
Participate in shift rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Required Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, IT, or related field
1–3 years of experience in network operations
Good understanding of TCP/IP, Subnetting, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Spanning Tree, MPLS, BGP, OSPF
Hands-on experience with vendor equipment (e.g., Huawei, Cisco, Mikrotik, Juniper, VSOL)
Experience with tools such as Wireshark, ping, traceroute, and SNMP-based monitoring
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
