QA Engineer – BI & Data Analytics

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Data Testing Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive test cases for Power BI reports, ensuring that KPI calculations and data representations strictly adhere to defined business rules. This role involves validating data accuracy and completeness across multiple platforms including Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and SAP systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with data engineers, business analysts, and end-users to ensure high-quality data delivery and report accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute detailed test cases for Power BI reports, focusing on verifying that KPI calculations align with established business rules.
- Conduct manual testing by comparing front-end Power BI reports against backend data sources such as Azure Data Lake, Databricks, and SQL databases to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Validate data transformations, aggregations, and business logic applied within Databricks and Power BI data models to maintain data integrity.
- Perform ETL and data pipeline validations within Databricks and Azure Data Factory (ADF), ensuring data completeness and correctness throughout the processing stages.
- Collaborate closely with data engineers and business analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios.
- Identify, document, and track defects systematically, working with cross-functional teams to facilitate timely resolution.
- Validate data extracted from SAP ECC and S/4HANA systems, ensuring alignment and consistency with downstream reporting outputs.
- Automate test cases where applicable using SQL queries, Python scripting, or BI test automation tools to improve testing efficiency and repeatability.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by partnering with business users to validate report accuracy and functionality prior to production deployment.

Required Qualifications
- Proven working knowledge of Power BI, including proficiency in DAX, data modeling, and report validation techniques.
- Strong SQL skills for backend data validation and query development.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake, Databricks, and Azure Data Factory for comprehensive data validation and pipeline testing.
- Solid expertise in both manual and automated testing methodologies for data pipelines and business intelligence reports.
- Familiarity with data profiling, ETL validation processes, and KPI rule testing to ensure data quality and compliance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of data governance principles and data quality frameworks to support compliance and best practices.
- Experience using test case management and defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA.
- Ability to develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline testing efforts.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Prior experience working within retail or manufacturing analytics environments is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of automated data quality tools such as Great Expectations or dbt is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Selenium automation tools will be considered an asset.
