Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Tax and Audit Assistant to join our finance team. This role involves supporting the preparation and filing of both direct and indirect tax returns while ensuring strict compliance with relevant tax regulations. The ideal candidate will assist in audit engagements, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the continuous improvement of tax and audit processes. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and timely filing of direct and indirect tax returns, ensuring full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Support the analysis of tax-related transactions to guarantee accurate financial reporting and adherence to compliance standards.
- Act as a primary point of contact for internal and external auditors during audit engagements, facilitating smooth communication and coordination.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain all necessary documentation required for audits, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Respond promptly to auditor inquiries and assist in implementing recommended improvements to strengthen compliance and operational efficiency.
- Analyze financial data related to tax and audit functions to detect discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for process enhancement.
- Compile and prepare comprehensive reports and summaries on tax compliance and audit findings for management review and decision-making.
- Support the identification and implementation of process improvements to enhance tax compliance and audit readiness.
- Assist in the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) aimed at increasing efficiency and ensuring consistent compliance in tax and audit activities.
- Collaborate closely with accounting and other cross-functional teams to integrate tax and audit activities into the broader financial reporting framework, ensuring all necessary information is accurately gathered and communicated.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience or familiarity with preparing and filing direct and indirect tax returns.
- Strong understanding of tax regulations and audit processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with auditors, management, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
