Job Summary
METRO Pakistan (Pvt) Limited, a prominent international wholesale company and part of the METRO GROUP, is seeking a dedicated and qualified professional to lead and supervise in-store Quality Assurance (QA) activities. This role is critical in ensuring that all store operations comply with METRO’s stringent standards as well as local regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will focus on enhancing food safety, maintaining product quality, and driving continuous improvement across the stores. This position requires close collaboration with multiple departments and external agencies to uphold the highest levels of product integrity and safety.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to manage and oversee all in-store QA activities, ensuring full compliance with METRO standards and applicable local regulations. This includes conducting detailed statistical reporting and analysis to monitor compliance levels and identify opportunities for improvement.
As the Food Safety Team Leader, the candidate will strengthen and supervise the implementation of key certifications and standards such as FSSC 22000, Halal standards, and METRO Corporate Standards. Ensuring adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements related to quality assurance is essential, achieved by coordinating efforts with relevant stakeholders.
Collaboration is a key part of this role. The QA professional will work closely with QA, Operations, Buying Departments, and Authority Agencies to plan and deliver training sessions focused on food safety, quality assurance, and legal compliance.
The role also involves implementing product monitoring programs and labelling systems designed to maintain product integrity throughout the supply chain. Developing and establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) is crucial to ensure consistent compliance with company policies and national regulations.
Working alongside operations and QA teams, the candidate will actively seek to reduce losses caused by quality issues by improving store practices and processes. Handling customer complaints, managing quality incidents, and overseeing crisis management—including crisis identification, product returns, and recalls—are important aspects of the position.
The candidate will also develop and maintain robust systems for document and data control to support all quality assurance activities. Supplier development initiatives aimed at enhancing supplier performance and compliance will be part of the responsibilities.
Participation in periodic internal quality inspections is expected to identify strengths and weaknesses within the stores. The candidate will recommend corrective actions and continuous improvements based on these inspections.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, demonstrating a solid educational foundation for managing quality assurance in a retail or wholesale environment.
