Job Summary
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D IT is seeking a Technical Product Owner to join their R&D Product Development team in Hyderabad, India. This role is pivotal in advancing patient safety by creating innovative technical solutions that improve the collection, detection, assessment, monitoring, and prevention of adverse events. The Technical Product Owner will lead the vision and prioritization of technical features and enhancements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology roadmaps. This position demands a hands-on technical leader who actively codes and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions in a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities
The Technical Product Owner will define and oversee the engineering and technology architecture, roadmap, and technical decisions for the product squad. This will be done in close collaboration with the Technical Product Manager, Product Group Lead Engineer, and Business Unit Architect. They will ensure that technical implementations align with the business unit’s architectural vision, economic frameworks, and business requirements.

Partnering with the Business Product Owner, the role will help shape and implement the product strategy and vision. The Technical Product Owner will also work alongside Business and Technology Product Managers to identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, including cognitive automation initiatives.

A critical aspect of the role involves leading problem-solving efforts within the squad by providing hands-on coding, conducting system, design, and code reviews. They will drive the development and evaluation of technical solutions, testing concepts with users to ensure they meet intended purposes.

The role requires negotiating technology choices with business partners and collaborating with platform and product teams to leverage existing platforms effectively. Managing software testing and deployment with a focus on automated testing is essential to maintain solution quality.

To enhance operational efficiency, the Technical Product Owner will utilize SDLC toolchains and develop automation tools and scripts, such as CI/CD pipelines. They will communicate a shared technical and architectural vision to ensure alignment across teams.

Leading agile development processes, the Technical Product Owner will enable iterative delivery and adaptability. They will oversee pilot programs, analyze results, and refine solutions for scalability and production readiness, emphasizing performance, reliability, and quality. Risk mitigation and quality assurance during scaling efforts are also key responsibilities.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, IT, or a related field, with at least five years of relevant IT and business experience.

A strong understanding of global clinical regulations, computer systems validation, and the clinical technology landscape is essential, including compliance requirements for medicinal product workflows, reporting, and information custody.

Experience in testing, IT project management, systems support, or IT compliance is required, along with a proven track record managing large enterprise projects across multifunctional teams.

The ability to gather business requirements and translate them into IT solutions and delivery is critical. Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C/C++, C#, Python, or Java, including experience in code review, is necessary.

Candidates should have a solid understanding of clinical systems and system/data integrations with downstream analytics, compliance, and dashboarding systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to present complex information confidently at all organizational levels.

A commitment to fostering a positive, diverse, and open team culture is important. Strong knowledge of cloud computing technologies and platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), is expected. The role requires willingness to travel domestically up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
A basic understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications within the pharmaceutical industry is preferred. Familiarity with Generative AI and Large Language Models is a plus. Knowledge of the clinical contracting process is also advantageous.
