Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled accounting professional to manage and oversee the financial operations of our US entity. The successful candidate will ensure accurate accounting treatment in compliance with local laws, IFRS, and US GAAP. This role encompasses payroll management, sales commissions, revenue recognition, and cost accounting. Close collaboration with internal teams and external partners is essential to maintain financial integrity and support efficient business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting and Reporting:
Ensure all accounting treatments and recordings comply with local regulations, IFRS, and US GAAP. Manage the monthly financial close in QuickBooks for the US entity by the 7th of each month. Prepare accruals for management and statutory reporting, and develop detailed balance sheet and profit & loss schedules.
US Payroll:
Submit fortnightly payroll data, including new hires and terminations, into Trinet. Coordinate payroll preparation and disbursement with Trinet, journalize payroll disbursements and accruals in QuickBooks, and prepare monthly payroll schedules categorizing expenses by pay cycle and accrual. Work closely with HR to manage leave balance accruals and record associated financial impacts. Liaise with the Employer of Record (Trinet) for quarterly and annual state and federal filings, and resolve any notices with former EORs. Ensure timely payment of employee and employer benefit contributions to John Hancock.
Sales Commissions:
Calculate sales commissions based on the commission plan and ensure disbursement aligns with the payroll cycle. Distribute commission reports to relevant sales team members promptly.
Revenue Accounting and Process:
Perform basic analysis of sales contracts to maintain and update revenue schedules, including recognized and deferred revenue. Journalize monthly revenue recognition entries in QuickBooks. Maintain a comprehensive database of all sales contracts and coordinate closely with the sales team regarding anticipated downgrades or churn.
Implementation Hours:
Conduct sanity checks on hours recorded in Zoho and create Zoho accounts for relevant team members. Participate in meetings with Customer Success and other teams, preparing analytics and reports for operational review meetings.
Cost of Revenue Accounting and Process:
Maintain and update cost of revenue schedules. Reconcile costs with partners and prepare partner order forms, following up to obtain signed documents. Monitor potential cost reductions due to churn or downgrades and communicate these promptly to partners.
Other Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the group company on annual insurance renewals by providing necessary data. Follow up with service providers to obtain insurance cover notes as required by clients. Assist the line manager during external and internal audits. Support automation of work processes and undertake any additional assignments as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified or finalist in ACCA, CMA, or CIMA.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a similar accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and US GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; familiarity with Power BI is advantageous.
- Experience with NetSuite or comparable accounting software.
- Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of interpreting technical procedures and presenting information clearly.
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency.
