Job Summary
Join Experian as a Network Security Engineer and take a pivotal role in managing and advancing network security across a global, multi-region cloud and on-premises environment. In this position, you will assess and enhance network security systems, support capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives. You will work closely with leadership to optimize workflows and reduce incident response times. This role demands hands-on expertise with a wide range of security technologies and cloud platforms, combined with strong communication skills to engage both technical teams and executive stakeholders effectively.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for testing and evaluating network security systems and processes to identify vulnerabilities and implement improvements. Providing engineering expertise, you will seek opportunities to improve and automate processes. Your role includes managing network and security systems within a global multi-tenant cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP) as well as on-premises infrastructure. This includes working with AWS WAF, Imperva SecureSphere WAF, Incapsula WAFs, McAfee and Checkpoint IPS appliances, Fortinet Firewalls, SDWAN, and Checkpoint and Cisco firewalls.
Supporting network and systems security efforts, you will also contribute to capacity planning, disaster recovery, contingency planning, and business continuity. You will identify inefficient workflows and collaborate with leadership to develop roadmaps for streamlining or automating these processes. Working with cross-functional teams, you will help establish processes that reduce Mean Time To Identify (MTTI), Mean Time To Detect (MTTD), and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
Your responsibilities extend to preparing business cases, deployment and migration plans, and detailed bills of materials for leadership review. You will create clear executive and technical communications to build credibility and trust with internal and external customers. Effectively conveying technical information through whiteboards, presentations, and written communications during workshops will be essential.
Additionally, you will consult, assess, audit, design, and interview stakeholders to resolve complex technical requirements. Staying current on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies in network security and cloud environments is critical. Maintaining deep technical knowledge of network, network security, and cloud technologies is expected. You will also provide direct support for the global network, including after-hours as needed.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience managing, provisioning, and designing network security technologies in a large, globally diverse environment. Expert-level hands-on configuration skills with networking equipment, management tools, and network analyzers are essential.
You should have in-depth experience managing Imperva WAF, Incapsula Cloud WAF, and AWS Cloud WAF, along with extensive experience with Trellix IPS and Checkpoint IPS. Proven ability to write detailed methods of procedure and maintain documentation, including Visio diagrams, is required.
A strong consultative mindset with excellent collaboration skills is necessary to identify unmet technology needs and translate them into strategic solutions. Experience with network automation using Python and/or Ansible is expected. Relevant WAF certifications are highly desirable.
Expert understanding and implementation of WAN technologies such as P2P, MPLS, VRF, Wave, SONET, DWDM, SDWAN, and WAN optimization are required. Proficiency in Layer 3 protocols including IPv4, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, PIM, HSRP, DMVPN, NHRP, and GETVPN is essential. You should also be skilled in Layer 2 technologies such as Spanning-Tree, VLANs, QinQ, and Dot1q.
Experience with traffic prioritization technologies including QoS, TOS, COS, LLQ, CBWFQ, WFQ, shaping, policing, and MPLS-VPN QoS is important. Knowledge of cloud networking technologies and operational experience with load-balancing technologies such as Citrix and VMware rounds out the technical requirements.
