Job Summary
Intercargo Logistics, a leading global logistics provider operating in 32 countries, is seeking a dedicated Freight Coordinator for its Islamabad office. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing bookings and shipments using the CargoWise integrated system, ensuring seamless coordination between shippers, carriers, and recipients. This role demands meticulous record-keeping, timely updates, and proactive communication to maintain efficient shipment flow and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
The Freight Coordinator will be responsible for managing the entire booking process within the CargoWise platform, adhering strictly to company policies and training protocols. This includes creating and tracking inbound and outbound air and sea shipments by actively coordinating with airlines and shipping lines. The role requires close liaison with shippers to arrange timely collection and delivery of goods, securing essential documentation such as Proof of Collection (POC) and Proof of Delivery (POD).
Ensuring the punctual pickup of goods from designated points and monitoring their safe transit to final destinations is critical. The coordinator will dispatch notifications to suppliers and recipients in a structured manner to facilitate smooth preparation and handling. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date shipment details within CargoWise is essential for effective tracking and meeting delivery deadlines.
The role also involves identifying process inefficiencies and contributing to the development of controls aimed at achieving zero complaints related to collection and delivery. Understanding customer requirements and taking appropriate actions to meet their needs is a key aspect of the position. Additionally, the coordinator must ensure compliance with regulations concerning working hours, hazardous materials, and cargo weight restrictions while exercising independent judgment within company guidelines and industry standards. Other duties may be assigned by the line manager as necessary.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have hands-on experience in freight forwarding operations and a solid understanding of Incoterms and their practical application in shipment handling. A basic knowledge of managing shipments across multiple transportation modes—air, sea, and road—is essential. Prior experience handling both air and sea shipments is preferred. Strong communication skills, fluency in English, and proficiency in email coordination using Outlook are required to effectively manage interactions with internal teams and external partners.
