Job Summary
Adam Smith International (ASI) is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Accounts Payable Manager (Consultant) to lead and optimize our global accounts payable operations. This full-time consultancy position, based in Islamabad, Pakistan, offers a six-month engagement focused on resolving complex legacy issues such as supplier aging and historical discrepancies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing AP functions in multinational, multi-entity environments, with a strong command of international accounting standards and ERP systems, particularly Sage Intacct. This role demands a proactive professional capable of driving process improvements, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and collaborating effectively with global finance and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete Accounts Payable cycle across all ASI global branches and subsidiaries, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Supervise AP Officers to guarantee timely and accurate invoice processing and uploading.
- Lead detailed reconciliation efforts to address and resolve legacy AP challenges, including supplier aging and historical discrepancies.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the AP ledger through precise posting and classification of transactions.
- Work closely with finance and project teams worldwide to streamline AP workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
- Utilize Sage Intacct ERP for transaction processing, reporting, and resolving AP-related issues.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive AP reports, aging summaries, and reconciliation statements to senior management on a regular basis.
- Ensure strict compliance with international accounting standards and internal financial controls.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and automation within the AP function.
- Liaise directly with vendors to coordinate reconciliations and resolve both legacy and ongoing payment issues.
- Coordinate with Shared Services and Regional finance teams to standardize processes, resolve discrepancies, and improve reporting accuracy.
- Manage the XE payment module to facilitate prompt review and processing of international and domestic payments.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CAF, CA, or CIMA is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of finance experience, including at least 3 years in an Accounts Payable managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Proven track record working within multi-entity, multinational organizations.
- Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct ERP is desirable.
- Strong expertise in resolving legacy accounting issues and conducting complex reconciliations.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of engaging with diverse global stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to operate independently under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and coordinating teams across multiple geographies.
