Join Experian as a Unix/Linux Administrator and take charge of maintaining and optimizing Unix/Linux servers, with a primary focus on SUSE. In this role, you will ensure the high availability, performance, and security of critical systems. You will be instrumental in automating processes, managing vulnerabilities, leading a team of engineers, and contributing to key infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities
Unix/Linux Administration: Manage and support Unix/Linux servers, especially SUSE, by performing regular system updates, patches, and upgrades. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues promptly, and implement backup and recovery solutions while adhering to security policies and best practices.
Automation with Ansible: Create and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate routine tasks and configurations. Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and provide guidance and training to team members on Ansible best practices.
Vulnerability and Patch Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and execute remediation plans. Oversee patching processes to keep systems up to date with security updates. Work closely with the security team to address vulnerabilities quickly and maintain detailed documentation of all activities.
People Management: Lead and support a team of Unix engineers, encouraging their professional growth. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Project Management: Participate in infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery on time and within scope. Coordinate with IT teams and external partners, and develop comprehensive project documentation including plans, schedules, and status reports.
Audits and Compliance: Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards. Prepare for and participate in external audits, implementing corrective actions based on findings to improve processes and security.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in Unix/Linux administration and automation. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and system reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Unix/Linux administration, with strong expertise in SUSE.
- Proven skills in Unix/Linux environments, particularly RedHat and SUSE.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools, especially Ansible.
- Solid background in vulnerability and patch management.
- Demonstrated experience in people management and team leadership.
