What is Assistant Manager Sharia Product & Research - MMBL?

This role will be responsible for creating, managing, and expanding Islamic banking products and services to meet the specific needs of individuals, SMEs, and the digital Islamic banking sector.

What Assistant Manager Sharia Product & Research - MMBL Does?

Develop new products and product manuals in alignment with management directives, overseeing the entire process from ideation to product launch.
Monitor competitor pricing and provide timely updates to the Head of IMD regarding changes in bank advances, product rates, and service charges.
Conduct market intelligence on competitors’ Sharia-compliant product offerings (e.g., deposit and financing) and provide monthly updates to the Head of IMD.
Perform monthly product performance reviews, offering analysis and recommendations to the Head of IMD for necessary actions.
Coordinate with area offices daily to ensure effective product controls at the area level.
Establish strategic partnerships with corporates, technology providers, and development organizations to create comprehensive Islamic financial solutions.
Monitor portfolio quality and manage historical data to support the Head of IMD with analysis and management reporting.
Review product documents quarterly to assist the SCD in the documentation upgrade process.
Design and deliver training programs to enhance employee knowledge of Islamic banking principles and products.
Coordinate with the Shariah Compliance Department to address and resolve business and product-specific audit observations.
Conduct quarterly reviews of vendor arrangements in collaboration with area procurement officers, ensuring quality assurance.
Perform any additional functions as assigned by the Head of IMD.

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Assistant Manager Sharia Product & Research - MMBL?

Experience

2–4 years of experience in Islamic Banking, ideally in product development and market research.
Relevant experience in the Islamic Microfinance sector is an added advantage.

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Law, or Finance.
Certification or diploma in Islamic Banking or Shariah is required.

Technical Proficiency:

Comprehensive knowledge of Islamic banking operations, Shariah standards (e.g., AAOIFI, IFSB), and regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to address complex problems effectively.
Proficiency in preparing detailed reports to articulate Shariah product issues and solutions.
Ability to coordinate with Shariah experts, management, and regulators for product development.

Soft Skills:

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Effective collaboration and teamwork skills for cross-functional coordination.
