Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments.
  • Design and execute DRM initiatives to enhance community resilience.
  • Organize training and workshops for communities and local authorities on DRM practices.
  • Promote the use of early warning systems and disaster preparedness tools.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of DRM initiatives prepare reports and use data to improve project outcomes.
  • Provide technical support during disaster response, including rapid needs assessments and coordination
  • Distribution of ERT Kits to the ERTs.

Main Responsibilities

1. Program Planning and Implementation:

  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify risks and vulnerabilities of the targeted communities.
  • Develop and implement DRR strategies, action plans, and initiatives as per identified risks and vulnerabilities of the targeted communities and align with national and international frameworks.
  • Design and deliver community-based DRR training, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
  • Support the integration of DRR into MAP’s project and construction of SMART houses project planning.

2. Capacity Building:

  • Train and build the capacity of local communities, Village Committees (VCs), field teams and government officials on DRR concepts, tools, and practices.
  • Facilitate the establishment and strengthening of Emergency Response Team (ERT) at community, UC and District Level.
  • Promote the use of ERT kits, early warning systems and disaster preparedness plans at village, UC and District Level.

3. Coordination:

  • Liaise with government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders to coordinate DRR activities and ensure alignment with national policies.
  • Participate in DRR-related meetings, workshops, and forums to share best practices and lessons learned.
  • Foster partnerships with local organizations and community leaders to enhance DRR efforts.

4. Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of DRR programs and initiatives.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, case studies, and success stories for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use monitoring data to adapt and improve DRR interventions.

5. Emergency Response Support:

  • Provide technical support during emergency response operations, including rapid needs assessments and coordination of relief efforts.
  • • Ensure DRR principles are integrated into emergency response and recovery programs.

6. Advocacy and Awareness:

  • • Raise awareness about disaster risks and the importance of preparedness through media campaigns, community events, and educational materials.
