Job Purpose:
The Project Engineer will coordinate and manage the engineering and technical components of the CLIMATE RESILIENT Project Sujawal -Sindh and will lead the technical teams at field level.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Carry out the need assessments for schemes, conducting technical feasibilities in consultation with Junior Engineer and Project Manager, use of survey tools and machines i.e level machine, theodolite and total station ets
2. Develop Drawings, design, and preparation of BoQs accordingly to the project components.
3. Collaborates with project staff to create a strategic action plan, detail implementation plan (DIP), procurement plans, delivery plans for construction materials
4. Analyze infrastructural designs and BoQs proposed in project proposal/budget and Donor organization and provide recommendations; Assesses the competence, capabilities, resources, and financial status of vendors.
5. Provide technical support to technical staff in verification of WASH Inclusive infrastructures i.e. drawings, design and BOQ’s through field visit as per National/international codes/standards such as ACI, ASTM, ACP, CBM etc. for improved quality and inclusiveness.
6. Supervises process and progress of the project through periodic visits.
7. Close coordination with Project stakeholders and project manager to implement project activities as per agreed timeline and quality.
8. Compares the actual cost of project with the estimates.
9. Prepare final estimates, final bill of the contractor’s submitted invoices and completion reports.
10. Analyzes equipment, systems, processes, and systems to identify modifications to improve efficiency, increase quality, and control costs.
11. Prepares periodic progress and cost reports for leadership.
12. Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, completion reports as per the project requirements and when need.
13. Know-how about DRR & Climate resilience structures in any disaster situation in the country.
14. Ensures compliance with codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies.
15. Collaborates with the programme & operations department to identify and troubleshoot problems.
16. Supervise and support the technical team of the project.
17. Performs other related duties as assigned.
18. Review feedback received from field and ensures its standard as per SOPs for submission to PM;
19. Knowledge on Water Quality and parameters.
Required Qualification:
Required Experience/Skills:
a. Five (05) to Eight (08) years of proven experience with National and International NGOs
b. Three years of experience in monitoring and evaluating CLIMATE CHANGE, WASH in emergencies, PATS, Low-Cost Sanitation Technologies, and development projects.
c. Two Years of Experience in making flood protection walls and culverts, wetlands and ground water recharge.
d. Having high-level computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, data management, infographics)
e. Excellent report writing, case studies, project briefs, and infographic skills.
f. Having excellent knowledge of Beneficiaries and program participants, Safeguarding.
g. Awareness of UNICEF operational policies and proceduresis desired
h. Experience working with UNICEF is an added advantage.
i. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
j. Excellent budgeting and cost containment skills.
k. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
l. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
m. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
n. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
o. Basic understanding of ISO 9000 design requirements
Travel Requirement:
The job requires approximately 60-80 % to travel to carry out assigned responsibilities within the coverage area (District Sujawal). Traveling to field areas is a significant responsibility and candidate must be willing and able to travel.
