Psychologists diagnose and treat children with mental, behavioral or emotional disorders. S/he considers aspects that influence a child’s mental, social and emotional development. It involves the basic principles of clinical psychology combined with child, adolescent and family development and developmental psychopathology. S/he focuses on scientific research and provide psychological services to infants, toddlers, children and adolescents. S/he may perform a variety of clinical, research and administrative tasks.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Work with children and their primary caregivers in order to research, assess, and possibly treat developmental issues such as autism or pervasive developmental disorder.
2. Meeting with children and their family members to observe and diagnose concerns about a child’s mental or emotional state.
3. Administer personality or other psychological examination for a slightly troubled child.
4. Use a multidisciplinary approach and work within the context of the child's life, for example, the family or school.
5. Help children and adolescents dealing with social problems like bullying, substance abuse or high-risk sexual behaviors by providing education and counseling where required.
6. Help children and adolescents dealing with family-related issues, such loss, illness or divorce.
7. Collaborating with parents, teachers, foster mothers or other clinicians involved in a case to implement child psychology treatment plans.
8. Working with elementary educators and school administrators to evaluate and revise learning environments to suit children with special needs.
9. Treat learning delays or psychological disorders such as depression or anxiety.
10. Researching disorders common among children and adolescents, and devising new treatment strategies by helping children understand consequences of disorders and avoiding bad habits.
11. Provide preventative services, such as developing and implementing programs to prevent substance abuse.
Skills and Qualification:
1. Graduate degree in Psychology,
2. Must always deal with children carefully and handle them with "kid gloves".
3. Should be compassionate, understanding, and patient when dealing with children.
4. Communication with beneficiaries and Report writing Skills.
5. Any other relevant qualification will be a value addition
Required Experience:
1. Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience working as a psychologist in clinical, humanitarian, or community-based settings.
2. Experience in providing psychosocial support and counseling to individuals and groups affected by trauma, displacement, or emergencies situations.
3. Proven experience in developing and conducting mental health awareness sessions, psychoeducation, and capacity-building workshops for beneficiaries.
4. Experience in working with vulnerable populations, including children, women, and persons with disabilities, while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
5. Having Good knowledge of beneficiaries and program participants Safeguarding and PSEAH.
