Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, clinical demonstrations, and practical sessions for undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (FCPS, MD, MS) students in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
  • Supervise and mentor postgraduate residents and fellows during their clinical rotations, ward rounds, and surgical procedures, providing structured feedback and evaluation.
  • Contribute actively to the design, implementation, and review of the Obs & Gynae curriculum, ensuring it incorporates current evidence-based practices and national guidelines.
  • Participate in departmental academic activities such as grand rounds, journal clubs, and case presentations.

Clinical Practice & Patient Care

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based clinical care to patients across a broad spectrum of obstetric and gynaecological conditions.
  • Manage both routine and complex cases, including high-risk pregnancies, gynaecological pathologies, and surgical procedures.
  • Participate in on-call duties and manage obstetric and gynaecological emergencies.
  • Serve as a clinical role model for junior staff and students, demonstrating professionalism, ethical conduct, and patient-centered care.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols within the department.

Research & Scholarship

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research projects in areas of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, contributing to new knowledge and advancements in women's health.
  • Seek and secure external research funding through grant applications (with increasing independence).
  • Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
  • Present research findings at relevant conferences and academic forums.
  • Mentor junior faculty, residents, and students in research methodology, data analysis, and scientific writing.

Service & Administration

  • Serve on departmental, institutional, and university committees as assigned (e.g., curriculum committee, research committee, hospital quality assurance).
  • Contribute to the administrative functions and operational efficiency of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
  • Participate in professional organizations and contribute to the advancement of the Obs & Gynae specialty.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to maintain clinical and academic expertise.
