Job Summary:
The Finance Assistant will support financial operations including data entry, bookkeeping, petty cash handling, documentation, and ensuring compliance with donor and organisational policies. The role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the smooth implementation of project finances.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Record daily financial transactions into accounting software or ledgers.
- Assist in maintaining cashbooks, journals, and vouchers.
- Prepare and check payment vouchers, receipts, and supporting documentation.
2. Payments & Disbursements
- Process vendor payments and staff reimbursements after proper verification.
- Ensure timely payment of utility bills, rentals, and travel advances.
- Maintain petty cash and ensure accurate reconciliation.
3. Financial Documentation
- Ensure proper filing and scanning of all financial documents.
- Maintain financial archives in accordance with donor and internal policies.
- Support audits by preparing required documentation.
4. Bank & Cash Management
- Assist with bank deposits, withdrawals, and reconciliations.
- Maintain and reconcile petty cash balances.
- Prepare cash flow requests for operational needs.
5. Support to Finance & Program Teams
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Support Finance Officer/Manager in budget tracking and grant reporting.
- Liaise with procurement and admin teams for financial documentation.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration (B.Com / BBA Finance / equivalent).
- Preference for candidates pursuing or holding part qualifications in ACCA, ICMA, or MBA Finance.
Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- NGO sector experience or knowledge of donor-funded projects is preferred.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., XERO) is an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Basic knowledge of Pakistani tax laws and donor compliance rules.
- Good organisational and filing skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity.
Other Requirements:
- Fluent in English and Urdu (both written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel to field sites (if required).
- High ethical standards and commitment to humanitarian values.
