National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences is a flagship institution working under the patronization of the Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology (FAST). The latter is a charitable institution registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and also approved by Federal Board of Revenue as a non Profit organization vide clause 61(xlii) of part-1 of the second schedule to the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. The main objects of the Foundation are to promote and accelerate the study and research in pure and applied sciences and technology in Pakistan and to help financially or otherwise talented students of science and technology. To meet these objects the Foundation has established campuses at Karachi (est. 1984), Lahore (est. 1990), Islamabad (est. 1997), Peshawar (est. 2001) and recently in Faisalabad/Chiniot (est. 2012). These campuses have been recognized as an University under the name and style of “National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences” in the year 2000 through a federal charter by the Govt. of Pakistan. FAST is providing financial assistance through an annual budget of Rs. 50.0 million to its needy and indigent students every year.
