We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Azure Support Engineer to join our IT operations team. The successful candidate will take ownership of diagnosing and resolving issues related to Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, user access issues, and general Microsoft cloud infrastructure. You will support our internal team and remote users, ensuring smooth and stable operations across our Azure estate.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor, triage, and resolve issues related to:
AVD session freezing, performance degradation, and login failures
Windows AVD app and Remote Desktop client incompatibility
User experience problems related to endpoint devices (network, graphics drivers, etc.)
Perform AVD health checks, review diagnostics, and interpret session logs
Manage and troubleshoot issues across:
Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)
Microsoft 365 identity integration with AVD
RDP protocol behaviour, UDP vs TCP configuration, and session policies
Assist in maintaining and optimising the Azure environment, including:
VM health
User session scaling
FSLogix
Image integrity
Identify trends in recurring problems and recommend automation or configuration adjustments
Liaise with Microsoft support as needed to escalate complex issues
Maintain clear documentation of troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and incident outcomes
Technical Skills Required:
Strong experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) deployment and support
Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 multi-session environments
Knowledge of Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) behaviour and registry-based tuning (e.g. fClientDisableUDP)
Familiarity with:
AVD client logs and diagnostics (%LocalAppData%||...)
Endpoint performance tuning (GPU drivers, hardware acceleration, etc.)
Network troubleshooting (latency, bandwidth, packet loss)
Ability to analyse and respond to Microsoft 365/Azure endpoint service outages
Comfortable using tools like Event Viewer, Performance Monitor, and Reliability History
Knowledge of AVD diagnostics and troubleshooting PowerShell scripts is a plus

Comfortable working independently and handling escalations under pressure
