 2. General Position Summary

The Machinery Maintenance Assistant will support the smooth operation and upkeep of all food production machinery in the central kitchen. This includes roti-making plants, dough kneaders, flattener machines, peera makers, generators, and other mechanical equipment. The role requires hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on various kitchen machinery to ensure uninterrupted operations.

3. Essential Job Function

Daily Operations & Monitoring:

  • Inspect and monitor the performance of roti-making plants, dough makers, peera makers, flattener machines, and related food production equipment.
  • Check generators and other utility machinery to ensure readiness and optimal performance.
  • Support start-up and shutdown procedures of all machinery at the beginning and end of operations.·       

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance based on predefined schedules.
  • Clean, lubricate, adjust, and calibrate machines to ensure longevity and efficiency.
  • Replace worn parts such as belts, filters, bearings, and seals as needed.

Troubleshooting & Repairs:

  •   Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or operational issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Work with external technicians or vendors when complex repairs are needed.
  • Ensure minimal downtime through quick and effective problem-solving.  

Record Keeping & Reporting:

  • Maintain logs of maintenance and repair activities.
  •     Report equipment malfunctions or recurring issues to the Maintenance Supervisor promptly.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of spare parts and maintenance tools.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of spare parts and maintenance tools.
  • Follow all health, safety, and hygiene standards in accordance with kitchen operations.
  •       Ensure equipment safety measures (e.g., guards, shut-off switches) are functional.
  •   Participate in safety drills and training related to machinery handling.

Skills required:

  • Strong knowledge of Machinery maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Position Type/ Working Hours: Full-time position with 48 working hours per week. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
